Our Story
Matthew 16:18
In 1998, Dr. Stan Fleming published Gate Breakers, a book written to provide an expository of cults and world religions while offering practical tools for Christians as they engage in humble interreligious dialogue. The term “gate breakers” was derived from Matthew 16:18 - Jesus will build his church, and “the gates of hell will not prevail against it”.
A few years later, Gate Breaker Ministries was founded with the mission of “breaking down the gates of oppression through education”. Rather than remaining on the defensive, we believe God has called and equipped his people to be “gate breakers”, standing on the word of truth and actively partnering with God’s mission in the world.
As GBM has developed over the years, we have embraced opportunities to provide education in new ways . From the Hope Schools in Pakistan —> the Kenya College of Ministry —> yearly Israel prayer tours —> resources related to discipleship and apologetics, we are committed to providing education which will propel people into greater freedom.
What exactly does GBM do?
The answer to this question is far from narrow, but it is a reflection of the broad work of grace which God has done in the life of our founder, Dr. Stan Fleming. Stan began his search for truth in the late 1960’s, and this quest led him to involvement in eastern religions, drugs, the occult, astral projection, and many other spiritual pursuits. After years of extreme activities which propelled him into a state of clinically diagnosed, bottom-level paranoid schizophrenia, Dr. Stan was met by Jesus’ saving power. Over time, his mind was transformed, and he went on to achieve a doctorate of practical ministry with an emphasis in Christian apologetics (the defense of the faith) and embraced a life of pastoring and philanthropic work.
The author of several books, Stan is also a seminar speaker and faculty member at Ecola Bible School (Cannon Beach, OR), Life Bible College (Meridian, ID), Christian Life School of Theology (Columbus, GA), and Capital Church Interns (Meridian, Idaho) through which he teaches on cults, world religions, and the history of the early Church. Not restricted to apologetic teachings, Fleming has also preached inspirational, pastoral, and prophetic messages throughout the United States, as well as in over thirty foreign countries. Dr. Stan’s passion for truth - combined with his testimony of Jesus’ redemption - has given him a deep passion for education.
Our Passion
This passion is the driving force behind GBM’s mission - to strive toward “breaking down the gates of oppression through education”. We believe that providing education is one of the many ways we can partner with God and what he is doing in the world. Whether by creating courses on cults and world religions, working to provide educational opportunities for children in the Punjab region in Pakistan, or teaching pastors at Kenya College of Ministry, Dr. Stan believes that God has transformed and healed his mind so that he can serve others as a testimony of God’s grace and point the world toward Jesus, the Truth.
